SPS Vice-President Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic says that her party will talk with other parties if no agreement is reached with the Serb Radical Party (SRS) and DSS-NS. “We haven’t ruled out the possibility of cooperation with anyone who agrees with our manifesto and reformist ideas. There are two key concepts here: Serbia in the EU and a united Serbia,” Djukic-Dejanovic told daily Vecernje Novosti. "SPS won't allow new elections" In the SPS vice-president’s opinion, it was logical to begin the search for a compromise by talking to the Democratic Party of Serbia-New Serbia (DSS-NS) bloc. “But, if there is no prospect of an agreement with the DSS or SRS, then we’ll definitely speak with the others. We won’t allow new elections,” she said. She added that she saw no u-turn towards the Democratic Party (DS) in the wake of United Serbia (JS) leader Dragan Markovic’s recent comments that he would prefer to form a government with the DS than the DSS-NS or SRS. “That doesn’t mean that the SPS-PUPS-JS coalition does not have a united position. All three partners will make their views clear on his proposal,” said Djukic-Dejanovic. Asked whether the DSS’s legal analysis of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) was a stumbling block to concluding a coalition agreement, the SPS vice-president replied that legal analyses and political life were two separate matters. “No legal analysis should be allowed to hinder those measures that Serbia so badly requires,” she stressed. Djukic-Dejanovic added that the SPS would never disown the legacy of Slobodan Milosevic. “We didn’t do that even when we were at our lowest ebb, and when they wanted to pull us apart. He was the founder of the party and a historical personality, and we have to move towards reinforcing an ideological and reformist spirit,” the SPS vice-president concluded.
