The first, constitutive session of the new Serbian parliament has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 11, in Belgrade. This was announced today after Speaker Oliver Dulic, DS, held telephone consultations with representatives of the election tickets that have won seats in the new parliament. New parliament meets June 11 A meeting of these representatives will be held on Monday, June 9, and details regarding the first session will be agreed on, a statement from Dulic's office said. At least two thirds of mandates of new MPs – 250 of them – must be verified during the first sitting for the new parliament to be officially formed. This will mark the beginning of a 90-day constitutional deadline in which a new government must be elected. The Serbian Electoral Commission on Thursday adopted a report on the implementation of parliamentary elections and sent it to parliament speaker who, under the Rules of Procedure, should call the first session of parliament one day after the reception of the report. The first item on the agenda as the new parliament sits for the first time will be mandate verification, while the second will be election of new speaker. Until this takes place, the parliament session will be presided over by the oldest MP, which is PUPS leader Jovan Krkobabic of the SPS coalition, who will be assisted by the four youngest lawmakers. The Democratic Party (DS)-led five-party coalition won 102 seats, followed by the Radicals (SRS) with 78, the DSS-NS coalition with 30, the SPS-PUPS-JS coalition with 20, and the Liberal-Democrats (LDP) 13 seats. The Hungarian Coalition has secured four seats, the Sulejman Ugljanin-led Bosniak List has two seats, while the Albanian Coalition of Presevo Valley has one.
