The head of the European Commission (EC) delegation today commented on the ongoing SAA debate in Serbia. Josep Lloveras said Thursday that the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA), signed by Serbia and the EU, is valid and that, from the legal standpoint, there is nothing controversial about it. EC: SAA valid, legally indisputable "The Serbian government was engaged in the preparation of that document, with a long period of discussion. I see no link between the signing of the SAA and the issue of Kosovo," Lloveras told reporters in Belgrade when asked to comment on yesterday's Democratic Party of Serbia's (DSS) legal analysis of the deal, which described it as "totally invalid." According to the EU diplomat, the latest DSS criticism is "a political, rather than a legal issue". According to Tanjug news agency, he added that the SAA is "legally clean". Serbia's European integrations should not be conditioned, because that is something of great importance for the country and its citizens, who have shown this in the recent elections, Lloveras said at the University of Belgrade, where he was participating in a presentation of EU student programs.
