Partition of Kosovo should not be encouraged or allowed, says Slovenian Foreign Minister and head of the Slovenian EU Presidency Dimitrij Rupel. At a meeting in Brussels of Western Balkan parliamentary representatives and their counterparts from the EU, Rupel said that the reason for the delays in the deployment of the EULEX civic mission to Kosovo were consultations in Brussels and New York. Rupel: Partition mustn't be encouraged More time than earlier envisaged had proven necessary for the mission’s transfer from UNMIK to EULEX, said the Slovenian foreign minister. Moreover, the main problem, he said, was covering the whole of Kosovo with the new European mission, Voice of America reports. “Certain principles must be defended, from a European point of view,” added Rupel. He said that EULEX had to be deployed throughout the province, and not just the south. Dimitrij Rupel (FoNet, archive)
