Slobodan Samardzic says local assemblies in Kosovo will be constituted within the legal limit of 15 days after publication of the official election results. Speaking in Kosovska Mitrovica last night, the Kosovo minister said that the Electoral Commission (RIK) had already issued certain instructions for forming municipal assemblies in Kosovo following the May 11 elections. "Serb local authorities in Kosovo soon" The formation of local self-government administrations, said the minister, was very important, because through these local authorities in Kosovo, Serbia could carry out its functions in the province in a legal and legitimate manner. President of the Community of Serb Municipalities and Enclaves in Kosovo Marko Jaksic told B92 that constituting local authorities in Kosovo was enforcement of the Republic of Serbia’s Law on Local Elections. “Municipal assemblies should be formed in places that Serbs live in great numbers, and in those places lacking a Serb population, municipal assemblies should be formed in the first neighboring municipality where Serbs live for the municipalities in that area. It’s simply a case of respecting the Serbian local election law,” explained Jaksic. Slobodan Samardzic (FoNet, archive)

President of the Community of Serb Municipalities and Enclaves in Kosovo Marko Jakšić told B92 that constituting local authorities in Kosovo was enforcement of the Republic of Serbia’s Law on Local Elections.

“Municipal assemblies should be formed in places that Serbs live in great numbers, and in those places lacking a Serb population, municipal assemblies should be formed in the first neighboring municipality where Serbs live for the municipalities in that area.
