Djilas, the party’s candidate for Belgrade mayor, said that the DS was holding “informal talks,” but did not say with what parties. “DS yet to launch Belgrade talks” He said that there was no way that DS leader Boris Tadic would accept the formation of one government coalition at republic level and a different one in the capital. The DS official told a press conference that Belgrade had voted for the European option on May 11, and that he was convinced that that option would form the ruling city administration. Djilas said that he expected support from the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in forming the local government, and from every other party that would like Serbia to become a member of the European Union. He said that the DS and the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) had a lot of things in common as far as social justice was concerned, and that the two parties could form a government in Belgrade on the basis of those similarities. The DS candidate for Belgrade mayor also commented on the support of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) for the Serb Radical Party’s (SRS) candidate Aleksandar Vucic, stating that the DSS had “tricked” the people of Belgrade, who thought they were voting for a Democratic option at the elections. The press conference was attended by DS officials Vida Ognjenovic, Ruzica Djindjic, actors Predrag Ejdus, Djurdjija Cvetic, Branko Cvejic, Goran Susljik, director Srdan Golubovic, water polo player Aleksandar Sapic and other notables.
