NATO Commander for Southern Europe Mark Fitzgerald says that KFOR's mission in Kosovo is to ensure security and peace. "KFOR’s position is that we will be there in the numeric capacity that the situations demands. When tensions start to ease and multi-ethnicity starts to take over, when a stable government is established, KFOR will start scaling down its presence,” the U.S. admiral said. NATO: KFOR keeping peace Speaking in Pristina yesterday, he added that KFOR’s work would depend on the implementation of municipal and police structures, and “all the other things that are needed for forming functional institutions.” According to KiM Radio, Fitzgerald said that KFOR’s priority was to work in line with Resolution 1244, to cooperate with all international organizations, and coordinate activities with local institutions.
