Tomislav Nikolic says that SRS leader Vojislav Seselj, currently on trial for war crimes, belongs in the new government. Nikolic, the Serb Radical Party’s (SRS) deputy leader in Seselj’s absence, said that he expected talks to begin with the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) regarding the formation of the new government the very next morning after the May 11 elections. Nikolic: Seselj’s place is in government He told daily Vecernje Novosti that Seselj could not wait to get back into politics. Nikolic said that the best government for Serbia would be a coalition between the SRS and the DSS-NS, with the participation of the minorities as well. “Realistically, it will either be a SRS and DSS-New Serbia government, or none at all,” the SRS deputy leader predicted. He added that he did not want to discuss the identity of the prime minister until after the elections. “I cannot say like Tadic that Kostunica will not be prime minister. I would not consider saying that during the campaign to a person I wished to form a coalition with,” Nikolic pointed out. Tomislav Nikolic (FoNet archive) Nikolic calls on citizens to vote Tomislav Nikolic has called on Serbian citizens to vote at the May 11 elections and so take a decision about their futures. “The SRS is prepared to bear the burden we’re entrusted with on May 11. We ask you to employ us on May 11, and we will start to employ you from May 12. Therefore, go to the elections on Sunday full of hope, full of optimism, with your kids in your arms, with your friends and neighbors, and decide about your futures,” Nikolic stated in a message to citizens ahead of the start of election silence. He said that the SRS was confident of victory, and that Serbia would take a new course with their victory. Nikolic said that a Radical victory would mean that Serbia no longer depended on the will of politicians, but that Serbian citizens would lead the country as they wanted to, and that the authorities would have to act in line with that. He called on citizens not to fear “the very brutal and dirty campaign Serbia has witnessed these last few days,” adding that with an SRS victory “things can’t get any worse than they already have been” and that they can only get better.
