The EU believes that Bosnia signing the SAA would give a positive signal to the pro-European forces in Serbia ahead of May 11. This was reported today by the VOA, who interviewed EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana's spokeswoman Cristina Gallach. "Serbian elections for stability of region" "We believe that developments in Bosnia-Herzegovina may and should have impact on people in Serbia, that progress is possible, which, at the same time, brings stability, prosperity, which, in the end, is the most important thing for every day life of all of us," said Gallach. She added that for as long as countries in the region are making progress in the process of European integrations, the EU would not like to see Serbia lag behind. The VOA also reported on the evaluation offered by EU European Delegation for Southeast Europe Head Doris Pack, who has said that the result of the Serbian elections is "closely linked with arrests of war crime indictees", primarily of Ratko Mladic. "Currently, Serbia is in a very delicate position, and we have to be careful to have the elections won by the people who at least may help calm down the region as a whole, and who might deliver Mladic to The Hague," said Pack, adding that she believes that if the Radicals win the election, "Mladic would never be seen in The Hague". Serbia's parliamentary and local elections will take place in just over two weeks' time, on May 11.
