Democratic Party of Serbia leader Vojislav Kostunica denies that his party has begun talks on post-election coalitions or that there is any agreement with the SRS. Kostunica told Belgrade's Enter TV that he would not hide such a coalition from the public, as the DSS had always led transparent policies, and would continue to do so. Kostunica denies SRS deal Commenting on statements from Serb Radical Party (SRS) officials that they had offered the DSS a coalition after the elections, the DSS leader said that his party "takes decisions on post-election coalitions after the elections.“ He said that, prior to calling elections, had he wanted to, “I could have made a coalition with the SRS, and this talk of elections could have been avoided,“ but that he had not done so, but had rather returned the mandate to the people, and that the electorate would have the chance to make its feelings clear on May 11. Kostunica said that SRS deputy leader Tomislav Nikolic had the right to express his opinions, and that that was part and parcel of the election campaign, though he underlined that the DSS would not discuss post-election coalitions until after May 11, adding that elections allowed the citizens the opportunity to decide for themselves. The DSS leader reiterated that he had had three mandates in power and that he had stepped down voluntarily on two occasions, and pointed out that the DSS-NS (New Serbia) coalition had decided to bring the government down on this occasion because of internal differences between the parties of the governing coalition.
