Chairwoman of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Southeastern Europe Doris Pack says Resolution 1244 doesn't allow for Serbian local elections in Kosovo. “It is clear that Resolution 1244 doesn’t allow the organization of the Serbian local elections in Kosovo. I’m not talking about parliamentary elections, but about the local vote. Such elections aren’t valid and are unacceptable,” she said in Pristina after a meeting with UNMIK Chief Joachim Ruecker Friday. Pack: Local elections violate 1244 Pack added the goal of the visit of a group of European parliament MPs was to "help the UNMIK chief maintain the stability in Kosovo". Pack also claimed that Kosovo institutions should "do as much as they can so that Kosovo Serbs would have confidence in the new Kosovo constitution". After she met Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu, the representative of the European parliament said that EU “supports the president's efforts to convince citizens, especially Serbs, to believe in the new constitution.” “This constitution will offer them various possibilities to do a lot with their lives, to have their own identity and to have relations with neighboring state,” Pack was quoted, at the same time calling on "citizens and Kosovo institutions to build mutual confidence". During her visit to Kosovo Pack also intends to meet Assembly Speaker Jakup Krasniqi and Prime Minister Hashim Thaci.
