Serb Radical Party (SRS) deputy leader Tomislav Nikolic said in Loznica last night that the time had come for change, and that his party would bring it. “We didn’t force them to call early elections. But now that these elections have been called, they cannot govern Serbia again. Change the government, if we’re no good, change us too, but you won’t have the chance, we’ll be a good government, as we’re from the people,” said Nikolic at an election rally in the town’s central square. "Radicals' time has come" The SRS deputy leader told the crowd carrying flags and banners with messages such as “Radicals Now or Never“, “Long Live Serbia“, “Fatherland Above All Else“, that his party would be seeking the citizens’ trust at the May 11 elections, in order to show Serbia and the world that honorable people were involved in politics. “We’re picking ourselves up gradually, and our message is getting through to everyone, even our political opponents. Could you imagine one part of the Democratic Opposition of Serbia (DOS) breaking away and saying ’we can work with the Radicals.’ Now, we would like to lead them, let them follow us, let them learn how to govern and listen to the people,“ he stressed. Nikolic said that over the last few years, the ruling parties had always filled the electorate with scare stories of what might happen if the Radicals came to power ahead of new elections. “We’ve been listening to stories about Europe for eight years, we’ve been putting up with all sorts in power, just because they talk about Europe and a better life, while, at the same time, turning our people into the biggest paupers in Europe. Hang on, what do you mean worse? Things can only get better. They’re afraid that we’ll show just how much better we can govern,“ the SRS deputy leader declared. He said that the future SRS government would support Serbia’s European integration, but only with Kosovo as its constituent part. Nikolic said that the 150 countries that had not recognized Kosovo were Serbia’s friends and that Serbia should work with them. Tomislav Nikolic (FoNet)
