Serb National Council of Northern Kosovo President Milan Ivanovic addressed the protesters, to say that an end to diplomatic relations with Albania was in order "because that is where the mass graves of kidnapped Serbs from Kosovo ad Metohija are located." He was referring to the claims made by the former chief Hague prosecutor, Carla Del Ponte. Ivanovic also asked that Russian peacekeeping troops be returned to the Serb-populated areas of Kosovo, and that the Status-of-Forces Agreement (SOFA) on the status of United States (U.S.) forces in Serbia should be revoked. "In the event the violence repeats in Kosovo," he said, "the Serbian security forces should be deployed along the administrative line with the southern province." Ivanovic also thanked Serbian swimmer Milorad Cavic, who he said opted for a whole Serbia "when faced with choosing between a whole Serbia and a European medal". The protest rally was attended by several thousand Serbs and it passed without any incidents. It was held in the central Sumadija Square in northern Kosovska Mitrovica, organized by the Serb National Council of Northern Kosovo. A scene from the rally (Tanjug)
