Aleksandar Vucic says the Radicals have devised a serious plan for solving problems in Belgrade. The Serb Radical Party (SRS) secretary-general and candidate for Belgrade mayor told Radio Television Serbia that people who had energy, experience and authority would be implementing the program, adding that the party’s council officials would be university professors, eminent doctors, and the most prominent people in culture—directors, playwrights and actors. Radical candidate outlines plans for Belgrade Vucic said that basic problems would be solved, adding that there were 4,500 children on waiting lists for places in nurseries and preschools, and that there were problems with health care and health centers, and that citizens had a hard time obtaining medicine and hospital beds, adding that traffic problems were also very serious in Belgrade. He said that the most important thing that would be done, since the people wanted change in Belgrade and in Serbia, would be progress in the battle against corruption, which he said was a “key evil.” “Corruption must stop, because that is the way the city develops, and problems, starting with traffic jams, drugs in school, the situation of pensioners, can be solved a lot quicker,” Vucic explained. “We want to be on an equal footing with all Belgrade’s citizens,” the SRS official said, stressing that help would be called on from all people who were capable and wanted to do good for the city. He said that he would work in the best interests of Belgrade’s citizens, and that he was ready to make agreements with anyone who wanted to see the city progress, and would take the advice of people who were not members of the SRS, because the interests of Belgrade were above party interests. Vucic said that SRS local representatives knew best who the most honest people were and that coalitions would be possible with them. However, “not all coalitions are possible,” and the SRS was not ready to form coalitions with those who believed that they could solve problems through corruption, he stated.
