Serbs in the Kosovo enclave of Gracanica gathered peacefully today to send another message of defiance. Some 1,000 people, who protested for the 20th day, said they will never accept Kosovo's unilaterally declared secession, nor accept to work in the false institutions of the interim Kosovo government, agencies said. Serbs continue protest in Kosovo enclave The goal of the continued protest of the Serbs south of the Ibar River is to survive and remain in their country, and their homes and farms, where their roots run for ten centuries, the crowd was told. The protesters carried Serbian state flags and banners reading, "Kosovo is the Serb covenant", "We believe in Russia", "Stop to terror, threats and blackmail", "Serb police in Serb areas", "We won't leave our homes". The rally strongly criticized those Kosovo Serbs who have accepted to enter the interim government in Pristina, in this way "serving as argument for American and Albanian administration that the phony state of Kosovo exists". "Submit resignations and show the world and us that this false creation, the republic of Kosovo, is nothing but a criminal creation that will self-destruct," the protesters sent their message. The gathering also supported those Serb policemen who had left Kosovo police, KPS, because they do not wish to take orders from the interim institutions in Pristina. Serbs were also asked to return to the police station in Gracanica itself and work under UNMIK police command. The rally asked Belgrade to help Radio Gracanica, by solving the issue of the salaries of 11 of its employees. The protesters then walked through the streets of Gracanica, with only a few UNMIK and KFOR troops present. A scene from the Gracanica protest (Beta)
