According to election law, parties and coalitions are listed on ballot papers in chronological order on the basis of who submitted their list first, which means that the “For a European Serb – Boris Tadic” list will most probably appear as number 1 on ballot papers. RIK has 24 hour to decide whether to accept the list. DS spokeswoman Jelena Markovic said that the DS- G17 plus - SDP - SPO - LSV coalition had submitted the “winning list” to RIK today. “We are heading into the campaign and are asking the citizens to support the policies with which Boris Tadic won the recent presidential elections,” Markovic said, adding that Serbia was readier than ever for a stable and united political coalition of democratic and European forces in order to reach its goals. The coalition is asking for the support of the citizens to lead a pro-European Serbia to victory, and for the creation of a stable country which will defend its territorial integrity. “We are asking for support for a determined fight against corruption and serious economic reform, thus securing better lives for every citizen,” she said. The deadline for submitting lists to RIK is April 27. Each list must have the backing of at least 10,000 voter signatures, listed alphabetically and confirmed by the courts. A decision at the last parliamentary elections made it possible for parties and coalitions representing minority groups to participate with 3,000 signatures. Every election list must contain at least 30 percent of female candidates. President Boris Tadic dissolved parliament on March 13 and called snap parliamentary elections for May 11 to coincide with the local and provincial elections.
