The DSS’s slogan at May’s elections will be “Support Serbia”, says a party spokesman. Andreja Mladenovic said that the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) would lead a campaign whose focus would be the preservation of Kosovo, but also citizens’ standard of living. DSS campaign slogan: Support Serbia DSS official Milos Aligrudic said that he was convinced that the people would recognize the DSS and New Serbia as parties that could lead the government in the coming period, because these parties stood for Serbia joining the European Union in its entirety. Aligrudic said that there was no question of isolation or blockades after the elections. “These elections have occurred because of great problems. We think that the citizens will give their trust to our coalition, because we are the only ones to show the readiness to take responsibility, and able to lead the country in this coming period,” the DSS official said He said that Serbia could only join the EU if its territorial integrity was not compromised. DSS official and Trade and Services Minister Predrag Bubalo said that even if Kosovo was the main theme, it could not be the only issue in the election campaign. “We will address citizens’ standards of living and the economy,” said Bubalo, adding that those who were trying to spread fear would not do well at the elections. Asked what kind of results the DSS-NS expected, Bubalo said that he would talk about the results after the elections. Mladenovic said that he had reacted to President Boris Tadic’s statement that Vojislav Kostunica would not be prime minister in the DS’s next government because the DS were former coalition partners. “You cannot trick the public and present such things as fact. The president said that we held talks with the Serb Radical Party (SRS). I denied that because no such talks ever took place,” he said. He said that it was shameful for such propaganda to be coming from the president, who was supposed to be a president for all citizens, and not just a party leader.
