The DSS and SRS leaders have agreed in principle to cooperate after the elections and form a new government, says daily Blic. Blic has learned that Vojislav Kostunica decided to announce the government’s fall and call new elections only after Tomislav Nikolic expressed his readiness to form a governing coalition with his national bloc. Daily: DSS, SRS agree on new govt. Earlier, the Serb Radical Party’s (SRS) deputy leader rejected a proposal by the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) to support the minority government. Kostunica and Nikolic talked on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, the prime minister announced that the present government could no longer function. Blic writes that the most outspoken was New Serbia leader Velimir Ilic, who made it very clear that it would be senseless to form a government with the same forces as thus far. Talking with B92, the SRS deputy leader denied that he and Kostunica had agreed on forming a government after the elections. “I have not heard from him, nor spoken to him. There was only that short talk before the press conference when he explained what he would do, nothing more,” said Nikolic. “Why should we, when we know that we will win on our own. There is no point thinking about coalitions until after the elections” the Radicals leader told B92. Tomislav Nikolic (FoNet, archive) Loncar: Kostunica right to dissolve government Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) MP Zoran Loncar said yesterday that the statements of President Boris Tadic (DS), Nenad Canak (League of Vojvodina Social Democrats) and Mladjan Dinkic (LSV) justified the decision made by Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica to dissolve the government. “Canak publicly declared that he believed Kosovo was independent, while Dinkic constantly repeats that we should renounce Kosovo’s debts, in other words, renounce Kosovo,” said Loncar. According to the DSS MP, the about-turn in the DS’s policies would probably be followed by an immense propaganda campaign of how the country was threathened by self-isolation, which would instill fear among citizens. “Propaganda about self-isolation is the most common fraud and deception of Serbian citizens. Which country in the world would choose self-isolation and why exactly would Serbia be the first to do so,” wondered Loncar.

Lončar: Koštunica right to dissolve government

Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) MP Zoran Lončar said yesterday that the statements of President Boris Tadić (DS), Nenad Čanak (League of Vojvodina Social Democrats) and Mlađan Dinkić (LSV) justified the decision made by Prime Minister Vojislav Koštunica to dissolve the government.
