By mid-March, a further 600 German troops are due to relieve an Italian battalion in Kosovo. According to reports, they will stay in Kosovo several months and their presence will take the form of a regular exercise, whose twin aim will be “a demonstration of strength.” When the additional battalion joins the troops already stationed in Kosovo, the German contingent of 2800 troops will be the biggest within KFOR. Currently, Italy has the largest number of troops serving within the international mission.
