In the absence of official statements from the Council for National Security meeting last night, analysts speculate. Zoran Dragisic says that last night’s statements and the fact that the meeting lasted five and a half hours, show that there was a lack of agreement. No unity in Council for National Security? The only statement given after last night’s meeting was from the state secretary with the Internal Affairs Ministry, Mirjana Orasanin, who told the Beta news agency that the Council commended the work of the police during the unrest in Belgrade last Thursday. “First it should be seen whether the Council for National Security praised the police of if it was a member of the Council. Based on what happened in Belgrade on that day, and the reaction of the police, they do not deserve to be commended,” Dragisic believes. He said that the police "did not react as police around the world react in such situations". “If the police reacted in accordance with norms that are set for securing such gatherings, there would have been no incidents." "If Kneza Milosa Street was blocked, no attacks on the embassy would have been possible, and that could have been anticipated based on what occurred in the days before and at the previous rally,” Dragisic said.
