Hashim Thaci has named Jakup Krasniqi as the new Kosovo parliamentary speaker. Thaci also named Hajredin Kuqi of his Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and Rame Manaj of coalition partners Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) as his deputy prime ministers. Thaci names new Kosovo cabinet At a press conference, Thaci announced his proposed cabinet and stated that the government would be proposed for adoption once parliament reconvenes. The proposed cabinet was the result of negotiations between Thaci and Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu. The PDK proposed Jakup Krasniqi as parliamentary speaker with Thaci as prime minister. According to Thaci’s proposal, the ministries will be distributed as follows: Minister of Energy and Mines - Ms. Justina Pula-Shiroka (PDK); Minister of Justice - Nekibe Kelmendi (LDK); Minister of Education, Science and Technology - Enver Hoxhaj (PDK); Minister of Health - Alush Gashi (LDK); Minister of Internal Affairs - Zenun Pajaziti (PDK); Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports - Skender Hyseni (LDK); Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development - Idriz Vehapi (PDK). In addition, the Minister of Trade and Industry will be Lutfi Zharku (LDK), Minister of Local Governance and Administration Sadri Ferati (LDK), Minister of Economy and Finance Ahmet Shala (PDK), Minister of Transport and Telecommunications Fatmir Limaj (PDK), Minister of Public Services Arsim Bajrami (PDK), and Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Mahir Yagcilar (Kosovo Turk Democratic Party). Two Serb officials were also proposed for ministries: Boban Stankovic as Minister of Returns and Communities, and Nenad Rasic as Minister of Labor and Social Welfare. The coalition has enough votes to approve the government in the first round of voting, while a two-thirds majority will be required to electing Thaci as prime minister, which Thaci claims he will be able to secure in the first round too. At a press conference, Thaci announced his proposed cabinet and stated that the government would be proposed for adoption once parliament reconvenes.
