The two leading Kosovo Albanian parties, PDK and LDK, have reached agreement on the future ruling coalition. "The agreement is already made. All that needs to be done is to sign it," a local television station was told by Hashim Thaci-led Democratic Party of Kosovo, PDK's Hajredin Kuci Saturday. Albanian parties expect independence within 3 months Kosovo's President Fatmir Sejdiu is the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK). The new coalition government would see Thaci as the next prime minister. Meanwhile, Bajram Rehxepi, another PDK official, told B92 that as far as the status of the province, "Kosovo Albanians, unlike Kosovo Serbs, know very clearly what will happen in 2008," and added this would be independence. The former prime minister of one of the post-war interim governments in Kosovo believes this outcome to the status crisis will happen in the first three months of this year, and that it will take shape of a unilateral declaration of independence. Rexhepi also said "there is no more room for talks," dubbing further negotiations "pointless." He explained that Kosovo's Albanians intend to unilaterally declare independence of the province in coordination with international community, via the assembly in Pristina. "The future assembly will do its part of the work. The government will certainly be far more competent that the one before. They have a lot of work ahead of them, politics-wise but also to improve people's lives and to implement the Ahtisaari package," Rexhepi believes. While he admits a unilaterally proclaimed independence "could cause tension and protests in Kosovo," Rexhepi does not expect those to be violent conflicts, adding that "UNMIK, KFOR and KPS [Kosovo police]" would prevent this.
