Minister without Portfolio Dragan Djilas expects presidential and provincial elections to be held together in January. Djilas, a member of President Boris Tadic's Democratic Party (DS), said that “it is particularly important for presidential elections to be held in January, instead of December this year,” adding that,”a victory has been claimed insofar as the potential crisis between the coalition partners has been overcome.” DS minister: Elections in January “Sadly, we here in Serbia often get attached to certain trivial, passing matters that have nothing to do with improving the lives of the nation’s citizens,” Djilas told daily Gradjanski List, wondering “In six months time, who will remember the business over the election timeframes?” The minister did not feel that it was important whether prior to the first round of elections all the coalition parties or just some of them supported Tadic. “It’s good for democracy that we have several candidates. That’s why there are two rounds. It’s a game of two halves, and the winner is the one who gets most votes in line with the law that regulates the voting system,” he concluded.
