The European Parliament adopted a report on Serbia encouraging full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal. The European Parliament stated that cooperation with the Hague Tribunal was a prerequisite for signing the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) between the European Union and Serbia. European Parliament adopts report on Serbia European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia Jelko Kacin said that it was true that the EU would not be complete until the Balkans had been integrated, but that the region would not integrate at all costs. “Serbia must prove that it is a partner that we can trust. That is why I call on Serbia and its citizens to wake up and help themselves and their neighboring countries by playing a constructive and positive role in the region,” Kacin said. He said that he was content with the adoption of his report, and that even though Serbia had improved its cooperation with the Hague in the past several months, complete cooperation was expected in order to sign any agreements with the EU. Kacin added that he hoped Chief Hague Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte's report on Serbia's level of compliance would be positive and enable EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn to initial the SAA with Serbia.
