Lithuanian Foreign Minister Petras Vaitiekunas met with Serbia's top officials in Belgrade on Tuesday Vaitiekunas and his Serbian counterpart Vuk Jeremic signed a double tax avoidance agreement and addressed the press afterwards saying they hoped for better economic cooperation between the two countries. Jeremic underlined during the meeting that Serbia's European integration "is the main strategic priority of the Serbian government," for which it received full backing of the Lithuanian government. "This route is widely supported in Lithuania...Public opinion surveys have shown that a great majority of Lithuanian citizens strongly support EU enlargement, and in that sense, I was assured by the minister that we have Lithuania's strong support," he said. Talking to the Lithuanian minister, Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica touched on the issue of Kosovo’s status settlement, saying “the international community has to condemn the announcements made by Kosovo Albanians on the unilateral proclamation of independence.” “It would be the worst possible scenario with unimaginable consequences,” he stressed.
