A draft memorandum of cooperation between the two states regarding EU integration is ready, Bozidar Djelic says. “Serbian and Montenegrin governments can exchange experts and experiences in numerous immensely complex technical affairs." Serbia, Montenegro cooperate in EU integration "We can expand our cooperation during integration talks in a manner that would not affect the positions of both states,” the deputy prime minister said Saturday in an interview with Internet magazine EIC-Bilten. He explained that one of the memorandum's purposes is for Serbia and Montenegro to share costs of translation of European regulations, “which is a painstaking and expensive job.” According to Djelic, the European Union sees the Western Balkan countries as a package when it comes to their integration into the EU structures. “That is why Serbia and Montenegro have to cooperate closely on the path to the EU.” Speaking of Serbia’s EU prospects, Djelic remarked that it should be noted the EU agreed with Belgrade's position, according to which the Kosovo issue should not be tied with Serbia’s progress towards Europe. “In other words, the province’s status settlement will not affect the European status of Serbia,” he said. Djelic explained the complexity of some serious issues concerning Serbia’s agriculture that should be discussed during Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) talks with the EU. “Ahead of us is the privatization of major public enterprises,” he added. “What we set as our goal is to make it to the so-called white Schengen list in two years’ time, which poses a great challenge, as it requires changes in the field of internal affairs, fight against corruption and crime, introduction of new passports and integrated border management,” Djelic said. Speaking about the cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, Djelic said that at the moment there is "solid evidence" Serbia is making progress in meeting the UN court’s demands.
