“We need to work together for a few weeks or months,” he said after meeting United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) chief Joachim Ruecker and KFOR commander Lieutenant General Roland Kather.

Kouchner also said he believed that Kosovo, under the international administration, was a “success story.”

He called on Kosovo residents to reject notions that the international community had changed its position on the province.

“Don’t believe that we have changed, don’t believe that the EU has changed its stance, and don’t believe that any of your friends have changed,” the French diplomacy chief said.

Kouchner is on a one day visit to Kosovo, where he is scheduled to meet with President Fatmir Sejdiu, Prime Minister Agim Ceku, members of the Priština negotiating team and representatives of Kosovo Serbs.

Kouchner was in Belgrade Thursday where he warned that Serbia’s EU accession will be tied to the solving of the Kosovo status.
