Sejdiu: March 2004 will not repeat

Asked to comment on the recent speculation that the final settlement might be pushed back to the end of November 2007,  Sejdiu said it was a matter of “weeks, rather than months”.

Sejdiu is convinced that the UN Security Council will reach “a reasonable solution that will include Moscow, based on the U.S.-EU draft Kosovo status resolution”.

“It is in the interest of all that a resolution agreed upon be adopted,” Sejdiu said, and stressed it was “unacceptable” for the Albanians to have the word “independence” removed from the text.

“We Albanians are patient. We’ve been hoping for a long time. We know agreement will be reached very soon. But I also know it would be very good to end this interim phase as soon as possible and achieve stability and security,” Sejdiu told the newspaper.

El Pais also said that representatives of the world’s most influential countries advised Priština against unilaterally declaring Kosovo independent from Serbia.
