“No conflict in Southern Serbia”

"Ahtisaari’s document contains major achievements in the field of international law when it comes to minority rights, and I see no valid arguments for fresh conflicts whatsoever,” he said.

Halimi added “the idea that three municipalities in Southern Serbia, including Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa, should join Kosovo, indeed existed”, but he stressed that “he represents a relevant political position by saying that the area will remain Serbian.”

Commenting on the possibility that Albanian representatives may partake in the next Serbian government, Halimi said that “Serbian authorities have so fair failed to consider that option.”

“We insist that we jointly work on our problems and issues. The new government should be wiser and handle the issue of mutual co-operation better than the previous ones,” he said.
