The Islamic community center, damaged in March 2004, has been partially reconstructed with funds provided by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. Embassy said on its web site.

The funds provided by the American people were used for the renovation of one floor of the community center and to outfit several rooms with furniture and computer equipment that will be used to conduct vocational training for the Muslim community of Belgrade.

The renovated center will serve as a place where community members, especially young people and women, can come to improve their computer literacy, internet and foreign language knowledge, and get the skills that will help them with future job prospects.

Much of the community center, however, still needs to be reconstructed. As part of its efforts to help the Islamic community to restore their center, USAID has also allocated funds to prepare the architectural and engineering plans for further restoration of the building.
