SNV leader Milan Ivanović told the rally that “Serbs will never give Kosovo up”, and that in case of an imposed solution, they “reserve the right to self-determination”.

Ivanović also announced a protest rally in front of the U.S. embassy in Belgrade on February 27.

Serb municipalities’ assembly chairman Marko Jakšić, a member of the Belgrade negotiating team in Kosovo talks, said Ahtisaari’s plan “contained nothing good for the Serbs”.

“They will take what we still have, hospitals, schools, giving them a constitution, anthem and all our land”, Jakšić said, adding “this will not happen as we will give nothing to them”.

Northern Kosovo municipalities’ presidents Dragiša Milović, Slaviša Ristić and Velimir Bojović said Ahtisaari’s plan contravened with the UN Charter, “giving all to the Albanian and nothing to the Serb side”.

The speakers at today’s rally called on Belgrade to convene the parliament as soon as possible, and form a new negotiating team that will represent Serbia’s interests, as well as those of Kosovo Serbs.

The gathering ended peacefully, after which the participants started walking toward the Ibar river bridge, separating the north and south parts of Kosovska Mitrovica.

The SNV has announced it will staged similar protests in Kosovo’s Pomoravlje, Štrpce and the province’s central regions in the coming days.
