Constitutional Court "forms case" on Kosovo agreement

The Constitutional Court of Serbia on Monday announced that it had "formed a case" related to initiatives to assess the recently reached Brussels agreement.

BELGRADE The Constitutional Court of Serbia on Monday announced that it had "formed a case" related to initiatives to assess the recently reached Brussels agreement. The Serb Radical Party (SRS) and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) filed their separate requests n May 7 and 8 Constitutional Court "forms case" on Kosovo agreement Among other things, they asked the court to assess whether the agreement initialed on April 19 complied with the country's Constitution and laws. The court today announced that "on the occasion of the said initiative and proposal, the case IUo-180/2013 has been formed, and a reporting judge and an expert assistant appointed." The Radicals asked the court to look into the constitutionality of the Serbian parliament's decision to accept a report on the process so far of the political and technical dialogue with Pristina, held with EU mediation, as well as the government's decision to accept the agreement on normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina. The DSS submitted a proposal for the court to assess the constitutionality and legality of the first initialed agreement on the principles that regulate normalization of relations between the government of the Republic of Serbia and the government of the self-proclaimed state of Albanians in Kosovo and Metohija. This request was submitted by 21 MPs from the DSS ticket, two independents, and one each from the Serb Progressive Party and the NSS. (Beta, file) Beta

Among other things, they asked the court to assess whether the agreement initialed on April 19 complied with the country's Constitution and laws.
