Serbia's top officials visiting Brussels

BELGRADE Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, and his First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, are all visiting Brussels this Monday. They are traveling to the seat of the EU at an invitation from High Representative for Foreign Affairs ad Security Policy Catherine Ashton. Serbia's top officials visiting Brussels The meeting is part of the consultations ahead of the 7th round of the political talks between Belgrade and Pristina, which will be held in Brussels on March 20, Ashton said in an earlier statement. Although the time of the meeting was not officially disclosed, it is presumed it will happen in the afternoon, because Ashton will be chairing the EU Council of Ministers earlier in the day, which will focus on the situation in the Middle East and Africa. Ashton will visit Pristina on March 14, where she will meet with Kosovo's Prime Minister Hasim Taci and political party leaders. They will discuss the stalemate in the negotiations regarding the formation of an association of Serb municipalities in Kosovo. Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci agrees that organs of the community should be formed, but not that it should have executive powers, as Belgrade wants. Ivica Dacic has previously said Serbia would not accept anything less than to have a community in Kosovo of Serb municipalities that will have executive powers. Aleksandar Vucic has said that the Serbian leadership was going to Brussels "to get a date for the start of negotiations on EU membership". Vucic also stated that he believed there would be "an increase of the jurisdictions of the Serb municipalities in Kosovo" but that the question remained "to what extent and degree".
