BELGRADE -- The High Judicial Council (VSS) proposed the Serbian parliament to dismiss Supreme Court of Cassation President Nata Mesarović on Wednesday.

The initiative for her dismissal was launched by the justice minister and seven VSS members.
The VSS session started this morning at 9:30 CET but it was adjourned. The session continued around 14:00 after arrival of Justice Minister Nikola Selaković.
The VSS members earlier accepted Mesarović’s request to be exempted from the session bearing in mind that the VSS would discuss her dismissal. The Supreme Court of Cassation president is automatically a president of the VSS as well.
The justice minister and the seven VSS members requested that a decision made on November 30, 2009, appointing Mesarović the president of the Supreme Court of Cassation, be abolished bearing in mind that the Constitutional Court has assessed that a regulation, based on which she was appointed, is unconstitutional.
