“Heads will roll over cooperation with drug lord Šarić”

PODGORICA -- Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolić has said that any politician that had any cooperation with runway drug lord Darko Šarić needs to be held responsible.

“Let heads roll, figuratively speaking, of all those we prove leaked information or warned and had any kind of contact with Šarić, meaning let them answer for their actions,” the president underscored.

He told Television of Montenegro that Šarić should be arrested and extradited to Serbia, no matter where he was.

“I do not know if anyone is negotiating with Šarić. Will heads roll in Serbia, figuratively speaking, if he shows up in Serbia, I do not know,” Nikolić said.

He added that anyone who had cooperated with the runway drug lord, especially since the moment it had become clear that he was involved in crime, needed to answer for their actions.

“I do not like the fact that there are speculations in papers, just like I do not like arrests being announced in the papers. If Šarić is within reach of some services abroad, he should be arrested and extradited to Serbia. If he is available to them, then it is not good to talk and not do anything,” the president pointed out.

When asked to comment on political situation in Montenegro, Nikolić said he would not rule out a possibility of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and New Serb Democracy forming a ruling majority some day.

He pointed out that Serbs in Montenegro could expect protection from him as a Serbian president in accordance with the Montenegrin Constitution and their justified requests.

Nikolić paid an official visit to Montenegro on Friday and met with his Montenegrin counterpart Filip Vujanović, Prime Minister Milo Đukanović and representatives of Serbs.
