Several hundred Serbs in northern Kosovska Mitorovica showed up in the Tri Solitera neighborhood to prevent three KPS guard posts from being set up there. The town is divided by the Ibar River into its mostly Serb northern, and ethnic Albanian southern part. Tension in ethnically divided north Kosovo town The Kosovo police (KPS) on Monday afternoon transported the boxes from the southern part of the town, intending to place one in front of each residential building there, and have KPS members man the posts. An ethnic Albanian was killed on Sunday in one of the buildings while two of his children were injured when unknown perpetrators placed explosives on their window. But KPS members today managed to install just one box, before the citizens turned it over and broke its windows. The remaining two boxes were then transported back to southern Kosovska Mitrovica. As Serbs were gathering in the north, ethnic Albanians also started gathering in in the south, and from the direction of the village of Suvi Do, where a Serb man last night reported being attacked and injured. According to a Beta news agency report, the situation was tense for a while, but without any incidents. Around 14:00 CET, the citizens gathered on both sides dispersed.
