Priština team head announces next round of talks

PRIŠTINA -- The next round of Belgrade-Priština talks will be held on October 14, Priština team chief Edita Tahiri has said.

She stressed that EU facilitator Robert Cooper should confirm the date and that it would only be a dialogue on technical issues.
According to her, Serbia’s demands to open political issues is nothing more than a tendency to change the direction of the technical talks and turn the dialogue into talks about political issues.
Tahiri told Priština-based TV 21 that the talks had been suspended because Serbia had insisted on discussing political issues first, particularly the customs checkpoints.
“Kosovo’s position on the issue is clear: there are no political topics which are red lines of Kosovo institutions, including the Kosovo assembly resolution,” she said.
Tahiri repeated that the U.S. and the EU believed that the nature of the talks could not be changed. Serbia wants to discuss the Jarinje and Brnjak administrative crossings before discussing energy, telecommunications and regional cooperation.
