The European Commission (EC) will recommend that Serbia should be given the EU candidate status if it continues to implement reforms, daily Blic writes. The EC could give the green light for Serbia’s candidate status even if the Hague fugitives do not get arrested, the daily writes, quoting diplomatic sources. Daily: Candidate status possible without arrest of fugitives It added that a draft report on Serbia was positive and that it would be finished on June 15. “EC representatives’ recent visit and (EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy) Catherine Ashton’s visit today show that Serbia has a strong support in Brussels to get the EU candidate status and a date for the beginning of the negotiations, but there is still a lot of work to do,” a source close to EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule’s cabinet told Blic.
