Interior minister confirms Brazil arrests

Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić has confirmed that Serbian citizen Goran Nešić is among the persons arrested for drug trafficking in Brazil.

Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic has confirmed that Serbian citizen Goran Nesic is among the persons arrested for drug trafficking in Brazil. Nesic was in Serbia sentenced to eight years in prison for drug trafficking. The interior minister told reporters in Bosilegrad that Nesic had been hiding abroad under false identities. Brazilian police announced earlier that it had arrested 17 members of an organized criminal group for drug trafficking and that one of the most wanted criminals from Serbia was among them. After opening Goles-Golema Crcorija border crossing with Macedonia, the Serbian interior minister said that other arrested men had been identified as Alen Memovic, Aleksandar Sekulic and Milan Karanovic, who were wanted for drug trafficking. He said that he could not confirm that the arrested men belonged to Darko Saric’s group or that Saric himself was arrested because there were several organized drug gangs in the Serbian territory. He pointed out that police were investigating whether the attack was connected to the proceedings against Saric’s group. Belgrade dailies have reported that three missiles were fired at Nebojsa Joksovic’s printing office in Belgrade. “The building belongs to a protected witness, but it was rented to another person and police are investigating whether the attack is connected to the proceedings against Saric,” the interior minister pointed out. He added that all witnesses who had participated in the proceedings against Saric were “safe” and that the trial before the Special Court for Organized crime was not at risk.
