A second Jat Airways plane designated to evacuate Serbians from Tunisia landed in Belgrade this evening, bringing 95 people home. They include construction workers, tourists, and family members of the Serbian embassy staff. According to officials, this completes the evacuation of the Serbian citizens who found themselves in Tunisia as violence broke out in that country. More Serbians evacuated from Tunisia Last night, a group of 125 Serbian tourists reached Belgrade. The evacuation was organized by the national air carrier and the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after the north African country descended into riots and unrest. Assistant to the foreign minister Zdravko Ponos said earlier on Monday that problems occurred concerning Serbian construction workers who found themselves "on the other end of Tunisia, unable to reach the north of the country", from where the evacuation flights took off. "We have organized transportation for them and we hope that more of our tourists, who (on Sunday) decided to stay will agree to be evacuated and use this chance," said Ponos. About 90 Serbians were expected to fly back to Belgrade today, Serbia's Ambassador to Tunisia Milica Cubrilo told Tanjug. She stated that the workers have left construction sites of Hidrotehnika, one located in the north between the cities of Bizerte and Tabarka, and the other in the south on the border with Algeria. “Two convoys carrying 39 Serbian workers should arrive in Monastir in early afternoon under army escort,” Cubrilo said. The ambassador added that a few more tourists changed their minds and decided to evacuate from the country. Moreover, several diaspora members and children of the families employed in the Serbian embassy also applied to return to Serbia. The embassy was also contacted by several Macedonian, Bulgarian and Croatian citizens who asked to be taken back to Europe by the Jat Airways plane sent by the Serbian MFA, she said. “At the moment we have 90 passengers who will arrive in Belgrade by 19:00 CET,” Cubrilo said. She said that there are Serbian tourists who are still in the tourist areas, but added that they are not directly endangered being far away from the cities and protests. “So far, no foreigners faced any problems. The persons who live in cities believe that the situation will stabilize,” the ambassador said, adding that she also believes that this will be the case.

More Serbians evacuated from Tunisia

Last night, a group of 125 Serbian tourists reached Belgrade.
