The Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) wants laws passed to encourage a decentralization of the country, SPO Director Aleksandar Jugovic said. “The SPO is strongly against any kind of initiatives for creating an independent statistical Sandzak sub-region, and we are serious in our efforts to decentralize Serbia. That is why we are demanding the emergency adoption of laws that would return property and authority to municipalities and cities in Serbia,” Jugovic said. SPO supports decentralization He added that the party will offer a program platform of decentralization and equality in regional development, which was adopted by the SPO main board four years ago. “Regionalization is a process with which we must economically restore the underdeveloped parts of Serbia. One of the goals of regionalization, respecting the principle of equal regional development, is stability, and unity in the entire country, not causing new divisions,” Jugovic said.
