A Pristina government official has appealed in Cairo on the Arab League countries to recognize Kosovo. Kosovo Albanian government’s foreign minister, Skender Hyseni, said that this government was “unhappy” that most of the countries gathered in the Arab League have not recognized Kosovo. K. Abanian official “lobbies Arab League” Hyseni on Monday in Cairo also met with the League’s secretary-general, Amr Moussa, it was reported from Egypt. Nearly two years ago, ethnic Albanians unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo. The proclamation has been rejected by Belgrade and is considered illegal. Out of 22 Arab League member-states, six recognized Kosovo as independent: Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan, Comoro Islands and Mauritania.
