Low turnout expected in Kosovo vote
10 November 2009 | 14:51 | Source: Tanjug
PRIŠTINA -- The Albanian language media in Priština write today that a low turnout is expected in the upcoming local elections in Kosovo.

They blame political dissatisfaction, inefficiency of political parties, inability to make a sustainable political race, public assessments that an individual vote has no power and massive political corruption.

The analysts interviewed also say that "the historic moment of the final solution of the status of Kosovo" has been "pushing elections to the background" and cite a lack of full credibility of the election process "and other specific technical problems".

The November 15 local ballot is the first organized by Kosovo Albania institutions after the unilateral declaration of independence a year and a half ago.

The Serbian president and government have stated that there are no conditions for the Kosovo Serbs to take part in these elections.
