Serbians to travel without visas starting Dec. 19?
5 November 2009 | 16:23 | Source: Beta
BRUSSELS -- The EU Council of Ministers has harmonized its position to cancel visas imposed on the citizens of Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia on Dec. 19, Beta reports.

The news agency is quoting its sources in Brussels who said that this was a unanimous position taken by EU states' ambassadors with the Permanent Representatives Committee.

This remains to be confirmed on November 11 at a session of the European Parliament, and then "likely before the end of the month at a meeting of either interior or foreign EU ministers".

The sources said that Slovenia made the proposal.

Previous announcements suggested that visas would be scrapped for Serbians on Jan. 1, 2010.
