One man and two children, who were washed up on shore alive, are currently in Hungary, but no information has been released yet on how many people were in the boat. Mucalj said that he had been told that “while they were trying to illegally cross the border in the so-called Dead Tisa region” the boat capsized and “most of the people on board probably drowned.” “The rest are being searched for…That's all we got from an exchange of letters though the local mixed commission where I am a representative on our side,” Mucalj said. He added that the section of the Tisa where the boat capsized is entirely on the Hungarian side of the border. Mucalj explained that an exchange of letters was the usual form of communication between two local mixed committees which are responsible for cooperation on the border between two countries.
