Serbian, Croatian MUPs to cooperate

Serbian police (MUP) Director Milorad Veljovic and his Croatian counterpart Oliver Grbic agreed on further cooperation. They met on Friday in Bezdan and, according to Veljovic, talked about those sectors where the two countries' police forces need to improve cooperation. Serbian, Croatian MUPs to cooperate The meeting concerned fight against organized crime and people smuggling, border police cooperation and exchange of liaison officers. "The main topic was continued cooperation in fighting organized crime. Regular joint meetings will be organized on the Batrovci border crossing, as well as constant exchange of information," he stated. The top MUP official also said that his Croatian colleague will visit Belgrade, when future cooperation "will be made concrete". Asked whether there was any new information regarding last fall's murder of Croatian publisher and journalist Ivo Pukanic, and whether allegations were true that Croatian police learned that President Boris Tadic was in danger due to that investigation, Veljovic said only that during his visit to Croatia "all information important for the work of the two police forces has been exchanged".
