WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Barack Obama has named Christopher Dell as the new American ambassador to Kosovo.

More recently, he was deputy U.S. mission chief to Afghanistan from 2004-2007, ambassador to Zimbabwe, and ambassador to Angola from 2001 to 2004.
Dell previously served in Bulgaria, where he was deputy ambassador to Sofia. He studied at Columbia University and gained his PhD at Oxford.
