Serbia, Iran to promote parliamentary ties

Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic met on Friday in Belgrade with Iranian Ambassador to Serbia Seyed Morteza Mir Heydari. They voiced a mutual desire to promote bilateral parliamentary cooperation and stressed good cooperation at international forums, particularly within the United Nations. Serbia, Iran to promote parliamentary ties A statement issued by the Serbian parliament said that at the end of his term in Serbia, Heydari had stressed the importance of activities of the Non-Aligned Movement, especially in view of the current crisis in the Middle East and voiced his opinion that Serbia should make an engagement in that sense. Djukic-Dejanovic informed the outgoing ambassador about the planned participation at the forthcoming regional conference of parliament speakers set to deal with the current crisis in the Gaza Strip. She also informed Heydari that "a group of friendship with Iran" was been formed in the Serbian parliament, the statement, carried by Tanjug news agency, said.
