KOSOVSKA MITROVICA -- Following the recent incidents in Kosovska Mitrovica, the local Municipal Council set up a Crisis Headquarters today.

Kosovska Mitrovica Municipal President Nenad Topličević said after a Council session that the authorities were concerned for the safety of citizens following the violence that has escalated over the past few days.

He told Tanjug that security would be scaled up in all parts of the town after Christmas, and appealed to citizens, in particular the young, to refrain from any form of violence.

Topličević also said that the municipal leadership would do everything in its power to stabilize the situation in the town and ensure peace.

A decision was also taken at the meeting to offer maximum assistance to all those injured in the incidents that kicked off in Kosovska Mitrovica on December 29, when a Kosovo police patrol was attacked in the Bosnjačka Mahala council estate.
