“Tadić must lean on Kosovo Serbs”
6 January 2009 | 12:32 | Source: Dnevnik
NOVI SAD -- Dušan Janjić, the director of the Forum for Ethnic Relations, says that President Boris Tadić must “impose order” in the Serb community in Kosovo.

“I think that Tadić must impose order in the Serb community in Kosovo if he wants to save it,” Janjić told Novi Sad daily Dnevnik.

He said that the only security institution that had “passed the test” in the recent incidents in northern Kosovo had been the Kosovo Police Service’s Northern Mitrovica station.

“Everyone else, KFOR, EULEX and the so-called parallel police of the Serbian Interior Ministry, failed utterly. Some of them were even responsible for initiating later clashes,” Janjić said.

He said that it was in the interests of many of the security institutions there for there to be an absence of security in northern Kosovo, and to keep tensions high, to show that they were needed there.
